Research Summary

My research area to date has covered a broad spectrum in optics and photonics ranging from synthesis and investigation of non-conventional optical fields in free-space to fabrication and optical characterization of micro/nano-structures. The subjects I have studied include, but are not limited to, (i) novel diffraction-free space-time beams (pulsed light sheets) stemming from strong correlation between spatial and temporal degrees of freedom of a field—a new form of classical entanglement, (ii) photon statistics in disordered photonic lattices that exhibit transverse Anderson localization, (iii) the fundamentals of coherence phenomenon and coherency imaging for scene discovery, and (iv) optical micro-cavities exhibiting omni-resonances and omni-directional photonic bandgaps. (v) My recent research area is ultracold atoms in optical lattices and artificial gauge fields.
